MINITEC has its origins in former KTS (Korf Tecnologia Siderúrgica Ltda. – Korf Steelmaking Technology Ltd), a steel engineering company created in 1982 by the Korf group, with the goal of modernizing recently-acquired Companhia Siderúrgica Pains (Pains Steel Company - Pains, today Gerdau Divinópolis). With the success of the solutions developed for the Divinópolis plant, KTS began selling solutions to clients beyond the Korf group, especially in India, where the company was well accepted. In 1990, with the passing of Willy Korf, founder and CEO of the Korf group, the group was absorbed by Metallgesellschaft AG (Lurgi – Outotec). Four years later, in 1994, the Gerdau group acquired all assets formerly belonging to the Korf group in Brazil, taking control, among others, of Pains and KTS. The Gerdau group, however, did not have an interest in the. Business of engineering and technology development, focusing its efforts instead on the steel production chain. KTS was therefore sold to Mannesmann Demag. MINITEC was therefore founded in 2002 by Henrique Carlos Pfeifer and other former Korf group employees with the goal of providing solutions and services to the small and medium steelmaking facilities market, as well as offering KTS minitechnologies. Since then MINITEC has provided solutions for the mining, steelmaking and non-ferrous markets worldwide. Some prominent projects are found in Brazil, India, Syria, Russia and the United States. In 2018 the corporate structure was renewed with the inclusion of key people from the company. Together, management positions were renewed. Founding partner and director Henrique Pfeifer passed away in 2019, leaving his legacy of more than 50 years of experience in the steel industry. The company continues its trajectory throu
