Our mission is to always serve up exciting orders of hot, fresh, delicious Texas Country Food and awesome DQ treats as ordered in an impeccably clean home away from home! We take the opportunity to serve our guest with an enthusiasm of friendship that will not only propel our company to greatness in our industry, but will surely skyrocket our most important asset to the highest level of success and... that is YOU. Dairy Queen in Tyler began in 1957 with one walk-up store owned by Charles Norwood. These humble beginnings slowly grew to 3 walk-up DQ’s. 1967 Mr. Norwood partnered with Quinton Rasure. Mr. Rasure assumed the role of a 49% business partner. Their unified goal was to add on to their DQ’s by providing customers with a dining room where their neighbors could meet, and grow relationships. The idea was to create a “Happy Place” for Tyler residents to relax and enjoy the world’s Finest Soft Serve. The community responded favorably, and the growth happened rapidly, growing to 8 full service units by September of 1976. On January 1st, 1980 the ownership was sold to Gene Dudley, Terry Giles, and Darrell Forster. By 1984, Dudley sold his ⅓ partnership to Forster & Giles. They created a 50/50 partnership, that has grown to 15 Dairy Queens that are thriving to this day.
