R. Eisenschmidt GmbH is located in Egelsbach, Hesse, directly at the largest airfield for general aviation. In addition to its main business - the sale and production of products for pilots and other aviation supplies such as technical accessories for flight preparation and flight performance - Eisenschmidt is also a publisher and producer of learning and teaching materials for pilot training and continuing education. In addition to classic print products, this includes digital offerings such as learning and examination software, eBooks, and a wide range of seminars and workshops. As part of the DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH group, Eisenschmidt is also jointly responsible for the production and distribution of the ICAO Chart Germany, the Aeronautical Information Publication AIP and AIP VFR Germany and other DFS publications. "140 years of experience – but not a bit of yesterday." History: Eisenschmidt was founded as early as 1880 as a publishing bookshop, but it developed rapidly. At the end of the 19th century, the company became the largest German map dealer and the main distributor of official maps for Germany and other countries. In 1909, Eisenschmidt went down in (aviation) history, as the inventor of the first map for airships (forerunner of today's aeronautical charts) chose the company as a commission publisher. Eisenschmidt is thus the oldest aviation map publisher in the world. Later, the German Federal Administration of Air Navigation Services (now DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH) also appreciated Eisenschmidt's expertise and made it the distributor of its official publications for airmen. Then in 2013, Eisenschmidt became part of the DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH group and continues to contribute passionately to the general aviation community.
