Parry Sound Harvest Share Community Food Programs
Harvest Share Community Food Programs is a non-profit, charitable organization based in Parry Sound. The organization's mission statement is to improve access to healthy, nutritious food for individuals & families in need in the District of Parry Sound. This is accomplished through the provision of various programs such as: 1) Community Food Bank 2) Fresh Food Program 3) Community Meal Programs - Soup Kitchen & Community Suppers 4) Community Tower Garden Project 5) Travelling Harvest Program - Food support in South River & Powassan Harvest Share is partnered with Food Banks Canada which is a national charitable organization dedicated to helping Canadians living with food insecurity. We believe that access to food is a basic human right, not a privilege. No one should go hungry. We believe that no one should face barriers in accessing food. We supply groceries to individuals and families who have a place to live but whose income is often insufficient to make ends meet. This group of families facing regular but generally short-term hunger is our target population. In the months of October, November & December of 2018 our food bank and community meal program supported over 1200 men, women and children each month.
