Traditional Chinese furniture was all made by hand - it is bespoke furniture from past centuries. Based on joinery it was made so that if necessary it can be disassembled, repaired and put back together to serve another generation. With our own workshop of highly skilled craftsmen you can be confident that the furniture will give you a lifetime of pleasure and use. Contemporary Art We carry Chinese and Australian art, demonstrating how well different styles of contemporary art mixes with traditional Chinese furniture. Major exhibitions are showcased in a large upstairs space with high ceilings. We have devoted a section downstairs to host smaller exhibitions of work by local artists. Exhibitions change on a regular basis keeping the gallery fresh and vibrant. Ceramics To get the best you have to travel to the capital of porcelain manufacture, Jingdezhen in southern China. We look for interesting and different pieces. Our direction is individual pieces and we now have a range of hand made and painted vases, plates and bowls including an exclusive selection by a prominent Chinese porcelain artist. Table lamps Table lamps are an excellent way to change the feel of a room by adding mood lighting. We search out suitable items to form the body of the lamp. These include pottery animals, porcelain vessels, bronze vessels cast in the shape of famous ancient bronze artefacts and carved timber architectural features. The shade and base is made by hand to match the individual lamp body. Many of our lamps are one-off creations.
