Ignite Africa is a volunteer driven social impact non-governmental organization, with a simple mandate to build lifetime Readers, who become intellectually rich, enough to envision self and social development, while holding excellence and integrity as core values to become great leaders of society in their chosen fields. Our vision is to become a brand that will aid sustainability of national development through education, and also serve as a respected advisory board to the nation on education policies and matters. Through our aggressive and innovative reading intervention programs, - our model Book Club and Book-To-Child Connection, which fosters a love of reading in young people, and effectively works to sharpen their comprehension ability, we have impacted hundreds of school children across the Nation. Within a year of our reading intervention programs (started March 2015), We established over 50 book clubs and Book-To-Child connection groups across 8 schools in Lagos State, 12 schools located in 4 remote villages in the Onelga region and Bonny Island of Rivers State, Nigeria. Ignite Africa has a team of intelligent, fun and professional volunteers who champions her cause. Our volunteer pool consists of Reading Partners who are fully intellectually involved with our student members and a set of skilled individuals who volunteer their expertise for the actualization of her vision. Each Reading Partner spends an average of 6 hours a month working with our student members. For every month with the Reading Partner, our young members on average gain a minimum of 1.5 months of reading skills. As an organization, we have provided educational support in form of cash prizes, laptops, Books etc. to a number of public school students in both Lagos and Rivers states within a year of our program.This was achieved via our Secondary Schools Book Review Competition, where students are encouraged to explore their world through reading and creative writing.
