ABOUT SERVE THE CITY The homeless, asylum seekers, the elderly, the disabled, children in need, victims of abuse. We know them by their needs. What if we knew them by name? There’s a line in every city that separates the rich from the poor, the strong from the weak, the haves from the have-nots. It’s a street, the train tracks, a river, a sidewalk. It’s time to cross the line. Serve the City is a global movement of volunteers showing kindness in personal ways to people in need. We are the connection between the good intentions and talents
of people who could volunteer and a meaningful opportunity to get involved. HISTORY Serve the City began in Brussels as a single week of service in 2005. Now Serve the City is active or starting in 100 cities around the world (www.servethecity.net). VOLUNTEER We serve people who are homeless, asylum seekers, elderly, disabled, children in need, and victims of abuse. We partner with local social-profit associations serving people in need and create projects in which volunteers can get involved (http://www.servethecity.brussels/volunteer/). CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ACTIVITIES Our vision is to connect the resources of the city with the needs of the city, and we do this through facilitating volunteering. The private sector brings with it many resources, both human and financial and can therefore play an important role in contributing to the well-being of communities in Brussels. STC Brussels organises corporate volunteering events to make this connection. We believe in local and global corporate volunteering events and would be pleased to organise one for you. It would be our privilege to work within your existing CSR strategy or to help you improve or develop one, through consultations, trainings and leadership development, and ongoing connections to community needs.
