The PrOOF Project, Inc.
www.theproofproject.comThe PrOOF Project, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization that specializes in providing Career Mentoring Opportunities for Elementary School Students, Special Education Consulting for educators, and Special Education Advocacy and Development for Parents. The mission of The PrOOF Project is to guide today’s youth through the journey of preparing for tomorrow. Our goal is to uplift communities that have been marginalized and disenfranchised as a result of race or socioeconomic status. We endeavor to offer children, educators, and families the tools needed to experience success. The PrOOF Project was started in November 2014 as a vehicle to address the unnecessary disparities in Urban Education. Research shows that minoritized children of lower economic status are subject to limited exposure, less experienced teachers, inadequate resources, and environments that are not conducive to personal, emotional, or social growth. As a result, a gap in performance exists across the nation. So how do we begin to address this? Quite simply, our strategy is to ‘Recreate the Village.’ In reference to the old adage, “It takes a village to raise a child,” we seek to reintroduce a culture of collaboration in urban education. We are calling on the community to work with children to develop their skills set for career readiness and offering classroom educators the skills and support needed to be successful in teaching students with high-incidence disabilities.
