Jamra Patel is a Portland, Maine-based studio that specializes in the design of letterforms. We work independently and with agencies to design custom typefaces and wordmarks for businesses, organizations and publications as part of their comprehensive branding and marketing strategies. We also develop typefaces for the writing systems of under-supported language communities in the U.S and abroad. These are multi-font type families designed and produced for everything from printed matter to mobile devices. We consider the historical, cultural and technical implications when designing letterforms for any application. Combining research with 35 years of collective experience in the field, we produce expertly-crafted, knowledgable designs that have the correct range of expression and perform well in the intended environments.
