ABOUT Safeway Solutions is an alternative approach to security companies and it is centralized within the marginalized community. We inspire to strengthen the community with the envision of a safer and welcoming community for everyone in a dignified manner to help those in need. We are sought out in response to the emerging epidemic of homelessness, opioid/drug addiction, and those suffering from mental health, here in Toronto, Ontario. With this population increasing, this makes a critical standpoint for more compassionate, patient and non-judgmental front line workers. We established a ‘Community Safety Team’ to serve as an added means of conflict resolution and crisis intervention in these specific types of environments in collaboration with centre staff. This is achieved with our dedicated staff members using hands off appraoch with a strict focus on non-psychical and verbal de-escalation in order to establish a healthy rapport while ensuring that the rules are being followed by the establishment. MISSION We believe that by aligning the strategies and resources of leading stakeholders seeking to support vulnerable populations in Toronto, Ontario we can continue to be a leader in our community in the promotion of fairness and respect in recognizing the worth of every person in all our dealings while individuals seek services and support of taking back control of their lives. WHAT WE DO Our experienced Community Safety Team (CST) members are well adapted to assist in a wide array of challenging environments. All our staff are certified in overdose prevention (Naloxone), Toronto Shelter Standards in addition to the standard Ontario Security License. Our Major Responsibilities: - CST’s will be equipped with clean up gear to help maintain safety & cleanliness in the neighborhood from harm reduction paraphernalia. - Doing regular and thorough patrol of assigned areas; directing guests back to the property or away from the area to more public spaces.
