In the industry, we have something we like to call a “Unicorn Wedding.” I’ve had a lot of really close contenders this year, but this particular wedding definitely placed high on my list. Casey and Stuart’s wedding opened me to a world of new experiences. The day began with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony held at Casey’s parents’ home. The couple wore dazzling red traditional ensembles – Stuart in a changshan while Casey looked exquisite in her qun kwa. After the tea ceremony, wedding preparations finally started. Stuart looked debonair in a simple pewter-gray vest, accentuated by a peachy pink necktie. Casey’s wedding gown was gorgeous. She chose a classic white, sleeveless gown with a semi-sweetheart neckline and mermaid, fanback skirt. There were delicate floral details around the neck and upper back area to add emphasis to the modesty of her look. However, it’s her bright, unfaltering smile that completed her entire look, and made her all the more stunning. The reception was presented in thematic midnight blue and classic white, with intricate golden embellishments. Casey and Stuart attended ballroom dance classes for their first dance as husband and wife. She’s a gentle soul, and a beautiful girl inside and out. The couple are both incredibly generous and trusting, too. That day, I was completely surrounded by such warm-hearted people, not only Casey and Stuart, but their families as well. After dinner, Casey changed back into her qipao for a livelier and more celebratory look as they danced the night away. Their wedding was an absolute dream to photograph. Not only was the entire concept unique, the pictures I took that day were some of the most heartfelt I’ve taken this year – maybe ever. Their love and the way they looked at each other, I felt only sincerity and it was such a joy to witness and capture. I could have photographed them all day long. Theirs is definitely a love that could last a lifetime.
