The journey of Bethany Church (Singapore) began from a BIG VISION from a man of God who was faithful to his calling and desired to obey and please God. God has put a burning desire to this man, Ps. Niko Njotorahardjo, to start a house of prayer for Singapore and its people. 2 Peter 3:9 – "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." With this in his mind, in the year of 1993, Ps. Niko began his first step faith in planting a church which is now known as Bethany Church (Singapore) or BCS in short. Started with a small congregation of 20 people, Ps. Niko, his wife and a worship leader travelled back and forth Singapore – Jakarta every month with great perseverance to lead the service in one of the congregation's house. At first, services were used to be held monthly in various hotels such as The Dynasty Hotel and Crown Prince Hotel (now known as the Park Royal Hotel). In April 2001, Bethany Church (Singapore) was officially inaugurated under the leadership and ministry of Ps. Djohan Handojo. Today, around 2,500 people come to attend various services in BCS every week. Other than 3 Indonesian main services that are held every Sunday at Grand Hyatt Hotel, BCS also has various homogeneous group services which are held either on weekday or weekend to cater the needs of God's people.
