Connecticut Birth to Three System
www.birth23.orgThe Birth to Three system was created by state statute and is part of federal legislation known as the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Part C of IDEA assists states in operating a comprehensive statewide system to support families with infants and toddlers through age 2 who have developmental disabilities or delays. The mission of the Connecticut Birth to Three system is to strengthen the capacity of Connecticut’s families to meet the developmental and health-related needs of their infants and toddlers who have delays or disabilities. The Connecticut Office of Early Childhood as the lead agency contracts out with 19 comprehensive Early Intervention Service (EIS) programs. each program has a designated service area and combined they cover all 169 towns in the state. To become an EIS practitioner in Connecticut visit http://www.birth23.org/, look under Our Programs for the towns where you would like to work and contact each program directly. The next RFP to become a comprehensive EIS program in Connecticut will be in 2025 at the earliest. Any Office of Early Childhood positions will be posted on Biznet.
