FSSAI was incorporated to facilitate food safety. For the purpose, it has laid down standards for the manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import of food items. All these standards have been tested and have the back-up of science. FSSAI was created with a vision to ensure that the food item is adulteration-free, consumable and healthy. FSSAI also sets up the formulation and enforcement of various safety standards for food, involved during all processes, starting from producing, manufacturing, transporting, packaging or re-packaging, distributing, retailing, etc.
