The majority of the microbes originated from The American Type Culture Collection in Manassas, VA. Microbes are offered as fresh cultures or as freeze dried cultures. Presque Isle Cultures also offers variety of microbial cultures media used for the growth and study of microbes both in tubes and petri plates. PIC also offers reagents for staining and assessing the physiological responses of microbes in 4 and 8oz bottles. PIC offers a variety of supplies for microbiology studies such as inoculating loops and needles, slides and cover slips, lens paper and bibulous paper, petri dishes, culture tubes, and assay discs. Presque Isle Cultures is a privately owned company. It was founded in 1968 by the proprietor Richard A. Gammon, Ph.D. Dr. Gammon has a Doctorate in Microbiology (St. Bonaventure University, Olean, NY; 1965). He was a professor of Microbiology at Gannon University (Erie, PA) from 1964-2002 and a research Microbiologist for the American Sterilization Company (Erie, PA) from 1966-1995. Presque Isle Cultures provides materials used in the teaching of microbiology to colleges and universities throughout the United States.
