Armed Forces Hub Devon
www.armedforceshub.orgThe Armed Forces Community Support Hub Devon provides a life-long diverse, supportive welcoming environment for the Armed Forces community throughout their transition to civilian life and beyond. The Hub provides a platform where each service leaver and their family can draw on an organisation that understands their values and needs, be it a cuppa and catch up, signposting to local services or a supportive layered approach to find suitable interventions or solutions. This enables the individual to gain the necessary skills for a smooth transfer back into the civilian community or to address issues along the way preventing their problem from escalating. With a keen focus on employment the Hub works alongside SW networking events and businesses and provides training and employment opportunities across a broad range of sectors, recruiters and businesses. The Hub’s experienced manager, veterans and volunteer staff specifically work with veterans to stabilise their lives with regards to Health, Housing, Education, Employment and Welfare. From the initial contact with a client, a values-based coaching and mentorship system is used to increase personal ownership, responsibility, confidence and resilience enabling them to find their own solutions. Recognising that being part of the Armed Forces can have many challenges and sometimes life changing experiences, the Hub works with local Mental Health NHS partners, charities and service providers to signpost and support people on their road to recovery. The women’s and partners group is run by a female service leaver and brings together like minded people to share experiences, focus on positive mental health, undertake activities and look at employment opportunities and training if required. Recognising the importance of the Armed Forces community, the Hub has online and face to face programmes that encourage, friendship, support, learning, active healthy lifestyles, therapy and mindfulness.
