The International Fiscal Association (IFA) International Fiscal Association was established in 1938 with its headquarters in the Netherlands. It is the only non-governmental and non-sectoral international organisation dealing with fiscal matters. International Fiscal Association - India Branch India Branch of IFA was established in 1983. The India branch presently has over 650 members. IFA India Branch includes as its members the Central Board of Direct Taxes and Authority for Advance Ruling. IFA is engaged in the study of international tax laws and policy through scientific research, holding of congresses, publications of its cashiers and other materials and co-operation with other likeminded organizations. The recommendations of IFA Congresses are respected by Governments world over. India has come to occupy center stage in the development of international tax jurisprudence. Judgments handed out by the Supreme Court, High Courts and Benches of the Tribunals receive careful attention from the international community. Many Indian judgments are debated at the annual IFA Congresses, held in different parts of the world. The India branch again got an honor of hosting world IFA congress in October 2014 at Mumbai. The congress was attended by about 1600 delegates from the worldwide from more than 100 countries and important international tax issue were delebrated in the congress between 12th to 17th October 2014. The India branch has been playing a pivotal role in the activities of IFA since its inception and members of India branch have been contributing in the activities of IFA as members of scientific and other technical committee of IFA. The India has also received a rare distinction this year, for the first time an India, Shri Porus Kaka, Senior Advocate from Mumbai had taken over as President of IFA worldwide .
