Dorset Blind Association

Supporting blind and partially-sighted people to live happy lives. We provide practical help and emotional support to enable people with sight loss to stay healthy and happy. Caring for people since 1918, we now help 1,000 people every month, county-wide, powered by our 400 trusted volunteers. We bring ongoing friendship and support so people feel positive about what they CAN do, to realise their full potential. ___________________________________________________________________________ Sight loss can cause depression and isolation. Our emotional support through trained Community Support Workers, buddies, social clubs and inclusive activities help people to come to terms with their sight loss and our practical services such as equipment, training, benefits advice, transcription to audio and braille empowers people to move forward with their lives. There are over 30,000 people living with sight loss in Dorset and this number is growing while council support and benefits have been cut. We believe sight loss shouldn’t mean missing out, so please help us to relieve loneliness and isolation for more people. Our charity relies 100% on fundraising to raise the almost £400,000 a year we need to support our local community. To make a donation or volunteer, contact 01202 712864 or visit www.dorsetblind.org.uk Your contribution could help us bring the light back into one more person’s life.
