LiCore is a Mexican nonprofit research organization whose purpose is to promote technology development in Mexico. Its research, development and innovation (R+D+I) efforts mainly relate to electronic systems -based on programmable logic devices- for process instrumentation and control. Founded in 2011 by a team of CONACYT (Mexico's Council of Science and Technology) Fellows, LiCore has gathered a number of experts in different fields with the goal of becoming a self-sufficient technology development group. Its members regularly publish scientific articles in indexed journals and international congresses. LiCore is divided into three R+D+I departments: Pi-Core (electric, mechanic and power systems), Bio-Core (agronomic systems), and TI-Core (Information Technology). It also has a Technology Management department, in charge of fundraising, prospective, linking, and includes a Technology Transfer Office, and a communication area. The organization provides engineering services and tailored projects of maintenance, instrumentation and industrial automation for several companies, from SME to large global corporations, including German technology giant Kostal and Mexican appliances giant Mabe. Additionally, LiCore provides commercialization of the developed products, and training courses to universities and private firms. LiCore's technology strategy includes projects in partnership with regional Universities and Research Centers. While its scientists and technologists have gained valuable know-how on Digital Signal Processor (DSP) technology, high-voltage electrical installations, as well as embedded systems, instrumentation, control and heat dissipation in electronics.
