We are a statewide association of Vacation Rental Owners and Agencies formed to support the role of Vacation Rentals in local communities. Vacation rentals are legitimate ways for their owners to invest their money, cover carrying costs of their homes, plan for eventual retirement and address other personal needs. They also make important contributions, economically and otherwise, to the communities that host them. They support local businesses, and the investment that many such communities are making to bring in more tourists. The general public, business people and politicians often know very little about vacation rentals, why they exist, how they benefit their owners, and how they contribute to their communities. We provide people with information that helps them evaluate the appropriate role of vacation rentals in their community. Often, the information that politicians and the public have about problems caused by Vacation Rentals is based on individual instances of problems. These stories are often repeated over and over to illustrate that something needs to be done to regulate VRs. If no work is done to actually document issues, then laws are passed that are ineffective and don't target the real problem areas. We are believe that targeted regulation based on real, documented issues benefits all parties. We believe that communities, VR owners, and business that server VRs can and should work together to solve problems.
