The Florida Legislature created the Healthy Start Initiative to establish, implement and monitor local Healthy Start care coordination systems that provide women with access to prenatal care and wraparound services that promote healthy pregnancies and improved birth outcomes and provide children birth to age three with access to services that promote normal growth and development. The primary objectives of the Healthy Start Initiative are:  To reduce infant mortality and morbidity  To increase birth weights  To improve pregnancy outcomes  To enhance the health and development of children birth to age three.
