Built in 1980, the first Taman Safari Indonesia at Cisarua, was constructed on a no longer productive tea plantation, with a footprint of 50 hectares. The park was designated as a National Tourism Object by the then Minister of Tourism, Post and Telecommunications and was inaugurated into Endangered Species Breeding Center in Indonesia by the Forestry Minister on March 16th, 1990. Today, Taman Safari Indonesia Cisarua, Bogor, has grown to 168 hectares and is equipped with a variety of educational and recreational facilities as well as holding a popular night safari and adventurous safari trek. Continuing the success story of the 1st Taman Safari Indonesia, Taman Safari Indonesia II Prigen, established in 1997 at the slope of Mount Arjuno, covers about 350 hectares of prime fertile land and is the largest safari park in Indonesia. Equally committed to conservation and education, the park holds one of the most important aspects of Indonesian conservation, which is to breed the endangered Javanese bull species. In 2007, Bali Safari & Marine Park established in Gianyar, Bali, aimed to attract the international and domestic tourist market in Bali, it re-lives the legends of humans and animals in a breathtaking setting of 40 hectares of splendid natural habitat. Offering many sensational highlights, this savanna like park has various attractions, animal shows and international standard facilities such as animal safari journey, night safari, Bali Agung Culture Show, Uma Restaurant, Tsavo Lion Restaurant, Mara River Safari Lodge, and the soon to be open, Marine Park. Finally in 2010, Taman Safari Indonesia established Batang Dolphins Center in Batang, Central Java as a marine breeding, research, education and conservation center. Today, Taman Safari Indonesia is determined in its commitment to continue its endeavor to become a conservation, education and recreation park proudly recognised the world over.
