A NON-PROFIT ALLIANCE DEDICATED TO MARINE ECOSYSTEM CONSERVATION Spiral Pacific is a team of scientists, educators and film professionals working together to foster conservation of many threatened Pacific Ocean ecosystems. Our mission is to explore the intertwined ecosystems around this vast ocean basin and research several human-caused stressors that contribute to the downward spiral we are facing, including: overfishing, ocean acidification, the introduction of invasive species and the marine debris issue. In our research, we highlight solutions enacted by the local communities around the Pacific Rim to address the decline in the overall health of the marine environment thus providing a base-line as to how these solutions can be stepped up globally. Our seasoned staff of educators incorporates these solutions to create unique and interactive STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) curricula for middle and high school students. Source material stimulates critical thinking and encourages students to participate in the vital fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Research highlights the next generation of lucrative careers will require extensive education in these fields. Our ultimate goal is to educate and equip a new inclusive generation of ocean stewards.
