Folkehøjskolernes Forening i Danmark (FFD) har som formål: ”At arbejde for folkehøjskolens idé og skabe gode og frie vilkår for skoleformens udvikling”. Foreningen er en medlems- og interesseorganisation som administreres fra Højskolernes Hus på Nytorv i København. Huset varetager skoleformens udvikling, ved at - være i tæt dialog med det politiske system og sørger for at tale højskolernes sag - bistå med hjælp og rådgivning i bl.a. juridiske, pædagogiske, formidlingsmæssige og administrative spørgsmål - afholde kurser og efteruddannelsestilbud for højskolernes ansatte - afholde årsmøde og generalforsamling i seriøse og festlige rammer - markedsføre og brande højskolerne via annoncering, web, events og kunderådgivning - udgive Højskolebladet, som et selvstændig og uafhængigt kulturmagasin - samarbejde med andre uddannelsesformer om udvikling af nye tidssvarende tilbud - samarbejde med sagsbehandlere og vejledere om afklaringsforløb --- FFD is short for "Folkehøjskolernes Forening i Danmark": The Association of Folk High Schools in Denmark. FFD is the national organizing body of the 80 Danish Folk High Schools. Each an independent, non-governmental institution with 50-200 adult students. FFD develops and maintains political and professional relations with the Government and partners, both at the national and international levels. The purpose of FFD is to work for the idea of the folk high school and to create good and free conditions for the development of this type of school. The highest authority of FFD is the General Meeting each spring. The association is run by a chairman and eight members of the committee. The posts are open for election every second year.
