The community, which is designed to serve adults 65 and older of all incomes who need some help to maintain their independence, is located on south 42nd Street, east of I-57 and south of Highway 15 in the south central Illinois community of Mt. Vernon. Heritage Woods provides a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home for older adults. It is especially designed to benefit those who do not have the financial resources to afford market rate assisted living. The community, which opened in June 2007, is managed by Gardant Management Solutions, the largest provider of affordable assisted living in Illinois. The community is owned by Hunt and Bill Bonan of Peoples National Bank and Market Street Bancshares.
