The Association of Veterans in Global Affairs (AVGA) was founded in 2017 by the first four Veterans to attend Rice University’s Master of Global Affairs program. (MGA) The Founder’s backgrounds and experiences vary, but prior Service and commitment to foreign policy and international affairs brought them to Rice University and the Baker Institute. Dedicated to personal and professional development, The Association is steadfast in its commitment to advance Veteran opportunities through leadership, career advice, transition assistance, philanthropy, and engagement with international businesses and governments. In complex international and business issues, veterans create value by leveraging extensive experience, knowledge, and uncommon drive. Veterans are encouraged to take the first step into the wider global community by enrolling in Rice University’s Master of Global Affairs Program. The Association of Veterans in Global Affairs at Rice University is laying the foundations for a network of Veteran MGA graduates, current students, academics and the larger international community.
