Swararanjan Music Academy offers Hindustani Classical vocal and harmonium lessons. Lessons are offered in accordance with the curriculum outlined by the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Miraj, India, which is one of the oldest educational and benchmarking institution of Hindustani classical music and dance in India, established in 1901 in Lahore. (http://abgmvm.org) Weekly lessons are available in individual or semi-private (group of 2-4) format and run for 30/45/60 minutes. Lessons cover voice training, music scales, rhythm basics, ornamentation and study of raagas. Lessons are taught by Rashmi Naniwadekar, co-owner and director. Beginning 2014, academy students are eligible to appear for the formal vocal and harmonium exams at the Dallas/Frisco center of Akhil Bharatiya Gandharv Mahavidyalay Mandal. The center offers five out of the ten exams outlined in the curriculum. Exams are optional. Rashmi Naniwadekar holds a bachelor's degree in Music from India. She has been professionally teaching Hindustani classical and light music for the past two decades in India and the US. She has received accreditation from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal as a Hindustani classical educator and examiner.
