Bernie Grant Arts Centre

www.berniegrantcentre.co.uk

The late Bernie Grant MP (1944-2000) believed that the creative industries and cultural activity had a major part to play in tackling social exclusion and in the regeneration of culturally diverse communities. At the Bernie Grant Arts Centre the core objectives are to: • Remove barriers to participation in the arts and creative industries • Celebrate the creativity of a culturally diverse population locally, nationally and internationally • Be a catalyst for the regeneration of Tottenham • Attract and develop new and existing participation from all communities The BGAC aspires to be a nationally and internationally recognised centre for the development of diverse cultural and creative practitioners, which has a demonstrably positive impact on the quality of life of local communities. The vision of the centre as an organisation dedicated to making a substantial contribution to the social and economic regeneration of Tottenham is a key objective of the organisation. We are also committed to becoming known as a centre of excellence in the area of training, education and learning, and arts and cultural diversity. We aim to develop projects with partners that will be of regional, national and international significance as well being recognised as of high value locally. We have created exciting spaces for creative experimentation, where collaboration between art forms and cultural differences are the dominant themes. We will present and nurture new forms of theatre, dance, music, digital media and spoken word. Our unique environment will support and develop artists and creative managers through professional development, programmes, residencies, learning and commissions. Designed by award winning architect David Adjaye, the Bernie Grant Arts Centre is the latest addition to London’s cultural arts scene. Our purpose built multi-arts centre includes a 274 seat auditorium, studio/rehearsal space, café/bar, multimedia workspaces and open spaces.
