La Lucciola Restaurant

www.lalucciolabali.com

La Lucciola Restaurant started operations in 1993 at the current beachside location in Petitenget, Bali, adjacent to Petitenget Temple (one of the 6 most important Balinese “Directional” Temples). At this time the area was still predominantly ricefields, the Oberoi Hotel marking the end of the development leading north along the famous Kuta Beach. The Australian owners decided on a traditional approach to the design of the restaurant, a design that has endured the test of time and the dramatic weather conditions that Bali experiences during the monsoon season. In 1993 the Bali restaurant scene consisted mainly of Indonesian food with the odd smattering of pizzas, fish and chips, etc. La Lucciola paved the way for many of the restaurants on the island, creating a demand for imported ingredients with its modern Italian menu and evolving wine selection. 2005 saw the addition of the Frangipani Lounge and The Firefly Room, a smart cocktail lounge and private dining room which can cater to groups of up to 40 people and provided a venue where wedding receptions, special birthdays and corporate gatherings could finally be experienced in this quintessential Bali environment. The Firefly Room derived its name from the Italian meaning of La Lucciola. At night the room comes alive with beautiful tiny lights in the ceiling creating an enchanted atmosphere. The Firefly Room offers a selection of menus for every occasion, and there is an emphasis on detail and style. This is one venue where quality is not compromised by a group booking. The Frangipani Lounge is open from 9 am till midnight daily and serves an array of both classic and signature cocktails. Guests can also order from a creative bar food menu while taking in the legendary sunsets for which La Lucciola is famous. Many famous people have enjoyed La Lucciola over the years including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Oliver Stone, Donna Karan, Giselle Bunchen, Francis Ford Coppola, Hugh Jackman, Jamie Oliver, Roman Polanski, Valentino, Linda Evangelista, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Baz Luhrmann, Elle Macpherson, and Lisa Kudrow. La Lucciola is still as busy as ever in it’s 20th year having become known internationally for consistently great food accentuated by the genuine warmth of Balinese hospitality.
