CBNRM Networking supports activities on natural resource management at the local level in developing and transition economies globally, within agriculture, coastal fisheries, coastal zone management, forestry, pastoralism, and rangeland management. It provides powerful and applied tools for communities, NGOs and institutions, aimed at networking and knowledge management. The members - as well as the users - of its websites live and work in more than hundred countries, and work in public sector, civil society and private sector. In order to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the situation at the local level, CBNRM Networking advocates use of tools like social analysis, social assessment and stakeholder analysis. Furthermore, to achieve results, a broader set of activities including democratization, development of civil society and relations in the public sector, civil society and private sector are addressed. There is a focus on Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM). This approach is broad and open, and it relates to likeminded approaches that are based in similar values and modes of operation and that aims at similar outcomes and impacts. CBNRM Networking operates through virtual and face-to-face communication and networking. It supports several interlinked Internet- and ICT-based communication services and social media and networking platforms that are operationalized into specific activities. Two important activities are LinkedIn's CBNRM group, and the Community-Based Natural Resource Management Network (CBNRM Net), the de facto global CBNRM Community of Practice (CoP), at: www.cbnrm.net.
