iPeace Belgium has been founded in 2019 as a sister organisation of iPeace Rwanda, a non profit organisation operative since 2001 to help communities and individuals in Africa's Great Lakes Region achieve sustainable peaceful coexistence using human rights education and free access to justice. iPeace is a growing organisation and has independently registered offices in Burundi, DR Congo and Rwanda and has currently two main projects: the Great Lakes Regional Training Programme in international humanitarian law and human rights law and the Legal Aid Clinic in Huye, Rwanda. Moreover, iPeace has already established partnerships with over 30 universities in Africa's Great Lakes region, as well as with global international and humanitarian law experts, international development agencies such as US AID and ICRC and various governmental institutions.
