ERA is a Virginia based studio founded by principal Eric Ross in 2021 with a dedication to the production of Architecture tailored for the challenges of the 21st century. Our work constantly seeks to elevate and celebrate the characteristics of place and program that are unique to each project. As Architects and designers we are naturally adventurous and optimistic, and this spirit usually manifests itself through the exploration of new formal and aesthetic directions. Ultimately, designing an architectural project is frequently an exercise in restraint, and curating what potential design elements to downplay and which to elevate can be a frustrating endeavor full of seemingly vast and ambiguous options. To aid our team, we begin each project working closely with the owner to codify their aspirations into the guiding principles for a project, and this becomes the owners statement of value. For us, design innovation occurs at the point where a projects constraints meet these values. With a clear direction we can then focus on the design of places that bolster and elevate their settings through compelling Architecture executed utilizing regenerative and resilient design strategies. The firm has refined a design process focused on embedding our clients values into the Architecture while simultaneously embedding the Architecture in its context. The result of this rigorous process has been the design and delivery of timeless and ecologically innovative projects throughout the US including Virginia, Washington DC, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and California.
