www.casajosecoltro.org.brCasa José Coltro is a non-profit charity established in 1988 in Capão Redondo - a very poor region of Sao Paulo, Brazil - by friends who have been united by the same desire for solidarity. Throughout these 31 years of community work, 10.000+ students have passed through the NGO. Our mission at Casa is to promote the moral and intellectual development of children, youth, adults and families of the community, giving them opportunities and ensuring their proper inclusion in the society, exercising their rights and duties, and thus improving their quality of life. Our goal will always be to improve and enrich the services provided to the community of Capão Redondo, which fights against social vulnerability caused by unemployment, poverty and exclusion. Projects Casa José Coltro is divided into two major projects. In the CCA, Center for Children and Adolescents, we serve 180 children and young people from 6 to 14 years of age, offering socio-educational activities, as well as cultural and sports workshops. At CEDESP, which is an entrepreneurship course, we train 240 youngsters and adults, from 15 to 59 years old, generating new opportunities for insertion into the job market. With the objective of providing students with new activities, we created the space Esperança em Movimento ("Hope in Movement"), where classes of Judo, Dance, Capoeira, Music and Arts are taught. We also have a playground and library. These activities aim to improve motor coordination, self-esteem, self-confidence and affectivity. Besides developing discipline, respect and social integration, it interferes positively in the individual character of the students and in their school performance. We also offer psychological support, which helps students overcome their great challenges in life.
