www.resource100.comMike Long is the retired (9/7/07) Executive Director of the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO), a position he held since its founding in 1989. He has 40 years of public service at the state, county and city level. On October 1st 2007 he founded his own company RESOURCE100 LTD, a consulting firm with a focus on waste reduction, recycling and the conversion of waste to products, fuels and energy. During his 18 year tenure at SWACO, Mike grew the organization from one employee (himself) to over 110 employees operating a fully integrated solid waste management system serving all of Franklin County and small parts of five surrounding counties. Under Mike’s leadership, SWACO became recognized nationally as a public sector leader in providing leading edge waste management services and programs of recycling and waste reduction. SWACO operates one of the largest publicly owned landfills in the U.S., receiving an average of 3500 tons per day. That landfill and associated facilities is at the center of several biomass to energy projects including landfill gas to CNG and the anaerobic digestion of food waste, yard waste and other organics. SWACO also operates three major transfer stations with scaling and accounting systems that integrate with landfill operations.
