Diary, She Wrote Podcast

www.diaryshewrote.com

Diarist Liz Beardsell has hand written a diary every day of her life since 1994. At the age of 12 she started to document her life in the form of traditional pen to paper diary writing and now at the age of 39 she has over 10,000 diary entries. She finds the process of writing down her thoughts and experiences every day an extremely restorative and beneficial practice, and for her it’s been her own personal form of therapy. She never intended to publicise her stories. But after doing a reading of a diary entry one night at a spoken word event in London, both friends and strangers encouraged her to share more and more. Hearing someone’s diary read out loud wasn’t just honest and explicit, it was compelling and relatable. This prompted the creation of her podcast; Diary, She Wrote. Her ability to story tell and describe things so many others find hard to speak about, makes for such compulsive listening, audiences will find it difficult to not immediately want to download the next episode. Inspired by Yrsa Daley-Ward’s words, “There is always something in your stories that will impact others in some way.” Liz hopes her stories will do just that - prompt an emotion, reaction, realisation or decision for the listener.
