Blue Tent, Inc. (formerly Camp Opportunity, Inc.)
www.bluetent.orgMore than three decades ago, 23 children in foster care attended their first week of summer camp through the grassroots efforts of concerned community volunteers. Those 23 children swam, sang songs, gathered around a campfire, and established a legacy: Camp Opportunity. Today, we are expanding our dream beyond one wonder-filled week of camp to include year-round educational, cultural, and recreational adventures to all Upstate children affected by abuse and neglect. Today, the legacy of Camp Opportunity burns bright in Blue Tent. Why Blue Tent? Blue is the color of summer skies, tranquil lakes, the Blue Ridge Mountains where we camp, as well as the color associated with Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month. Tents are places of safety, of shelter, and of fellowship, and serve as reminder of our roots and our heart: a week of Camp Opportunity. With Blue Tent, we will help bring the joy of childhood to children affected by abuse and neglect. They will embark on year-round educational, cultural, and recreational adventures, including our flagship week of summer camp. We are a locally-founded, locally-focused 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (tax ID #57-0787176), and we are passionate about kindling adventures for children affected by abuse and neglect
