PURE Action, Inc. is an Austin-based nonprofit dedicated to establishing yoga therapy as an alternative medicine through research, education and community. Since research is key to gaining recognition in the medical field, PURE Action funds studies to increase knowledge of the physical and mental health benefits of yoga. This information is used to educate the community through lectures, presentations and demonstrations. PURE Action also brings yoga to the community through various volunteer outreach programs for teens and adults in drug and alcohol recovery centers, community health clinics, jails, schools, and senior facilities in Austin and nationwide.
