Melbourne Montessori School

Melbourne Montessori School (MMS) is an independent, co-educational environment currently catering for children from 18 months of age (walking) to 18 years of age. There are two campuses, one in Caulfield South and the other in Brighton East. Classes are multi-age, giving each child the opportunity to learn from others and the flexibility to develop their personality at their own pace, both socially and intellectually. As a result, our students develop a life-long passion for learning. All environments provide appropriate outdoor spaces and Montessori materials for children and adolescents at each developmental level, allowing students to fully experience their surroundings and take responsibility for their own education. The Montessori approach supports the full development of the individual and offers a broad vision of education as an ‘aid to life’. The MMS curriculum follows the Montessori National Curriculum and is recognised by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA). It caters to the developmental needs and interests of the child or adolescent, teaching the same basic skills as traditional schools through a rigorous academic program. Most of the subject areas are familiar—such as math, science, history, geography, and language—but they are presented through an integrated approach that brings separate strands of the curriculum together. Programs include: - A Parent and Toddler Group (from 18 months) - Early Learners Program for 2-3 year olds - Junior School programs - Cycle 1 for 3-6 year olds (Kindergarten and Prep), Cycle 2 for 6-9 year olds (Years 1 to 3) and Cycle 3 for 9 to 12 year olds (Years 4 to 6) - Senior School programs - Montessori Adolescent Program - Cycle 4 for 12 to 15 years olds (Years 7 to 9) and Cycle 5 (Year 10). - International Baccalaureate (Year 11 & 12) - Montessori Careers Program (Year 11 & 12)
