The Illawarra Connection (TIC) is a not-for-profit networking organisation catering for leading professional, commercial and industrial business and community organisations that are committed to help the Illawarra achieve its full potential and recognition as a regional driver in the New South Wales economy. Illawarra regional leaders established The Illawarra Connection in 1993 to promote the Illawarra for the benefit of all regional businesses and the community. Our prime objectives are to substantiate the viability of the region for conducting business, to support the provision of all levels of employment and management opportunities, as well as the excellent community environment that goes hand-in-hand with worthwhile and abundant employment. TIC provides a forum for communication between members on a wide range of interests. The membership includes the leaders of government, business, industry, academia, media, religion and service industries of the region at mostly a CEO level. Members enhance their membership through networking and conducting business with other business leaders as well as attending the six regular black tie networking dinner meetings conducted each year highlighted by high profile, distinguished and professional guest speakers. As well for the past thirteen years, TIC in conjunction with the University of Wollongong and its Sydney Business School has been able to offer a scholarship to undertake an MBA (or other accepted course) to someone nominated by a member. TIC also provides funding for a participant in the Illawarra Emerging Leaders Program in conjunction with Regional Development Australia Illawarra and the Sydney Business School of the University of Wollongong.
