Steel Processing (Midlands) Ltd was formed by a team of business colleagues with extensive experience in the steel processing industry. Having previously established successful steel processing business for a leading PLC, the team went on to manage a large division of British Steel’s processing operations. After leaving British steel in 1992 it was decided that an independent processing operation would be developed that drew on this wealth of knowledge and experience. To this end, Steel Processing (Midlands) Ltd started trading in April 1993 and established its long term facilities at its current home in Burntwood, Staffordshire in 1994. The business was aimed primarily at the automotive and construction industries and these remain its core markets. Starting with a wide slitting line and driven by customer requirements additional facilities and management systems were introduced allowing SPM to meet the challenges placed on a modern day steel processing centre. The philosophy was to develop a business which exceeded customer expectations in the key areas of quality, reliability and service and this tenet remains the focus of the business today. Following the success of our second slitting line in 2016, further investment is being made with the installation of a fully refurbished Bronx decoiling/multi-strand blanking line, commissioning in June 2018. This will enable us to further enhance our product offering to include precision blanks for a wide range of sectors including sheet metal workers, enclosures and office furniture.
