The Swedish School For Children in the Washington DC area was founded over 30 years ago. Today it has students ranging from 5-18 years as well as a “Knattegrupp” for 4-year olds. Based on the number of students, the school is one of the largest Swedish international part-time schools in the world. It follows the Swedish Board of Education’s curriculum for supplementary education for Swedish students abroad. The goal is to help the students master the Swedish spoken and written language as well as embracing the Swedish cultural heritage. The education includes language, society, geography, history, culture and traditions. The school has an extensive and continuously updated library where the students can borrow Swedish books, magazines, and movies.
