Coogee Capital’s two principals are David Baxby and Tom Hardwick. David started his career in Investment Banking with Rothschild and Goldman Sachs before joining Richard Branson’s family office in 2004 as the CEO of Asia Pacific, before moving to Geneva and assuming responsibility for all travel and tourism investments and was appointed Global Co-CEO a few years later. In 2017 David returned to Australia and joined Wesfarmers as the Managing Director of its Industrials business until 2020. Tom started his professional life as a lawyer with Corrs Chambers Westgarth before moving into investment banking and funds management. Tom became CEO of Guardian Early Learning Group in 2010 and grew it from 17 centres to more than 100 centres over the next 8 years, partnering with 3 private equity firms to create a $500m+ business.
