While being a stay at home mom to her two littles, Mel Lay, Sandilake's Founder, couldn't find any tees for her daughters that weren't covered in sparkles princesses. So she decided to make her kid's graphic tees that she would wear, and started screen printing tees in her garage. Little did she know that within a few short years, Sandilake Clothing would be recognized world-wide as the brand that took on Target, and aired internationally on ABC's Shark Tank. After airing on Shark Tank and turning down an offer from Barbara, Mel opened a storefront In Portland, OR. The brand grew exponentially, and while she loved Sandilake like a third child, she was feeling overwhelmed and decided to take a step back and spend more time with her family. During this time, Sandilake was purchased and ran by a super awesome mom in Florida. After a couple years of continuing to deliver the SandiLake brand across the country, the mom was ready to move on. Mel teamed up with entrepreneur and e-commerce guru, Peter Cuderman, to take back the reigns!
