Having operated as an independent project space for six years, blank projects transitioned into a commercial gallery in 2012. Founded by Jonathan Garnham, blank's programme highlights new positions by young artists from South Africa and, increasingly, artists from other countries in the region. Its commitment to showcasing notionally difficult work has gained the gallery widespread recognition, both in South Africa and internationally.
