NW7 Hub runs the local community hub in Mill Hill, Barnet, having taken over the running of the local library in 2017. We offer a food and essential goods bank. We have established a community events programme and social space and are a familiar place to go for many local residents, recognised as a place to socialise, learn and support the area. Our open doors approach has also led us to being relied on for informal advice and signposting. We run regular social events aimed at those in the community most likely to struggle with social isolation and loneliness. These include weekly sessions for over 60s, with films, bingo and talks, as well as coffee mornings and monthly cross-generation social events, with crafts, films and gaming. We also offer volunteering opportunities, which are social and engaging. We run wider community events including craft and wellbeing fairs, theatre performances and information days. These meet many of our aims; bringing together the community, supporting local business and culture, and encouraging positive wellbeing and mental health. As a social enterprise, we hire our spaces to local businesses through a supportive room hire scheme, with reduced rent for new ventures, guidance in business development, cross-promotion and day-to-day advice.
