Virginia Production Alliance
www.virginiaproductionalliance.orgThe Virginia Production Alliance provides leadership & opportunity for the future of Virginia’s Film & TV community. For more than 30 years, the Virginia Production Alliance has provided opportunity for Virginia’s film and television community. We sponsor professional development and networking events for filmmaking professionals and we are committed to providing assistance to those working to establish professional film-related careers and businesses. We are also the leading advocate for Virginia’s production community, interacting with state lawmakers to help pass legislation to strengthen the filmmaking in our state. The Virginia Production Alliance is a membership organization and is the state’s only professional association that supports and represents Virginia’s film and television industry. With districts currently active in Hampton Roads, Richmond, and Northern Virginia, the VPA provides services and support throughout the state. The VPA serves the industry in several ways: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: The Alliance sponsors educational events such as panel discussion, classes, workshops and lectures by industry professionals. NETWORKING: Attend a VPA networking event and keep informed about the industry and meet old and new friends. ADVOCACY: The VPA is the voice of the industry with the Virginia General Assembly. We work with lawmakers to create new initiatives that will benefit the industry. The VPA was instrumental in passing tax credit and grant legislation, as well as a sales and use tax exemption for filmmakers. OUTREACH: VPA members work to give back to their community. Outreach initiatives include working with recently graduated film students, sponsoring an annual trade event and providing opportunities for project development. COMMUNICATIONS: As a central clearinghouse for information, the VPA maintains several communications tools for the industry including the VPA Listserv, Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, LinkedIn, and a YouTube Screening Room.
