Arte Faktos is a gateway to Colombian creativity, in a particularly exciting time of rediscovery, where pre-Columbian Colombia coexists with cosmopolitan Colombia in full swing. On the one hand, we present products that remain proudly faithful to our ancestral identity: that universe of colorful patterns and textures, inspired by the mythology of the original populations, of which certain groups still subsist. The best known, thanks to their mochilas (bags), are the Wayuu - the children of Juya, the lord of the rain. For them, knitting a bag symbolizes the reconstruction of the lines of life and destiny, expressing the knowledge of ancestors. One can not remain indifferent to their beauty; nor to their common sense! On the other hand, the design of today, the one that is little known but which expression was built discreetly with the integration of the local with the remarkable influences that explored this crossroads of the Americas. If several generations have been influenced by a certain Le Corbusier, teacher of the great architect Rogelio Salmona during a visit in the 1950s, others have explored the potential of local materials like Simon Velez with his mastery of the gradua (giant bamboo). Always juggling between past and future, local and global entry, between paradise and the hell of war, the Colombian designer has everything to give, inspired by a country that can boast of having all the climates and landscapes of the world gathered on its territory. Our selection depends on the strength of the products' stories offered by the participants. Jewelery that explores the gold of El Dorado and mining coal, furniture that combines traditional patterns with industrial materials, the architecture patterns of the of the districts of Bogotà incorporated into the finishing details ... we are proud to share the unique energy of this effervescent Colombia that is just waiting to be discovered …again!
