St. Bridget’s Convent is a private girls’ school situated in Colombo 07. It was founded in 1902 by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd Congregation, who administer it to this day. The school is located at Dr C.W.W Kannangara Mawatha, and comprises a Collegiate, Primary and Montessori school. In addition, the Convent and Chapel. It was in the year 1902, on the 15th of February, that the 2nd House of the Good Shepherd Congregation in Sri Lanka, St. Bridget's Convent was established at the request of His Grace the Archbishop of Colombo the Most Rev. Dr. T. A. Melizan O. M. I. in a rented house at Turret Road, for the education of young ladies. This work was undertaken by Sr. Mary of St. Francis Borgia and Sr. Mary of Our Lady of Lourdes from Kotahena Monastery under the guidance of Mother Mary of St. Winifred, then Superior of the Convent. The very first school day was on the 17th February 1902 and it began with 14 students. In June 1911, St. Bridget's Convent ceased to be a branch of the Kotahena Convent, and Sr. Mary of St. Francis Borgia was named as the superior. As the student population increased, the school was moved to 'Henley House'  at the present location on 7th February 1912. It was blessed by Most Rev. Dr. A. Coudert, Archbishop of Colombo. The cornerstone for a new school block was blessed by Rev. Fr. Griaux on 8th December 1914, and the building was solemnly blessed by the Most Rev. Dr. A. Coudert on 31st May 1915.
