Hélène Van Marcke was born in 1987 in Ghent, Belgium. She went to CAD-Brussels, an international college of design, and founded her own design studio in 2011 in Paris. In 2017, she opened her 2nd office in Ghent. She always has been passionated about the contrast between light and shadow and perfectly proportioned perspectives. A source of inspiration are the archetypes of design that surround us and she brings them into a contemporary world. It is all about the object, of which she thinks it should be thrilling to touch, use and look at. Her creations ought to be with a strong impact, somewhere in between softness and rigidity, sophisticated without any pretention, and always with a touch of “retro” humor.
