Insight Gloucestershire
www.glos-blind.co.ukInsight Gloucestershire helps sight impaired individuals throughtout Gloucestershire to lead independant lives. Insight Gloucestershire currently help and support over 3,000 sight impaired people in Gloucestershire. Our mission statement is to enhance the independence and the quality of life of sight impaired people. Insight Gloucestershire has been in existence as a charity helping sight impaired people in Gloucestershire for over 155 years. We want to continue to serve sight-impaired people in the county for as long as possible and we can only do this with your help and support. Local or national government, RNIB, or Guide Dogs do not fund us. Your donations stay in the county – we are directly assisting local people. We recently changed our name from ‘Gloucestershire County Association for the Blind’, to Insight Gloucestershire, here’s a statement from our general manger Steve Martin about why: “We need to inform the public that that we are here for anyone that has a sight impairment not just the blind, this is why we are changing our name from ‘GCAB’ to ‘Insight Gloucestershire.’ We want to move away from the term ‘blind’ and become inclusive so anyone with sight impairment (even if its temporary) can contact us for information and advice. Our new name reflects who we are and the services we offer. Our old name was rather misleading.”
